The story:

JAH OVA EVIL was a Jamaican artist who transcended into a united collective around strong and committed human values, in which their members advocate a conscious music based on a message of love, equality and solidarity. They aspire to a world where poverty no longer exists and where everyone lives in harmony with their environment.

Jah Ova Evil is associated to the Nunes family, through the strong involvement of the twin artists, The Gideon (Aijah Nunes) and Selah (Jahnoi Nunes) who manage and defend the ideas of that collective in the continuity of their eldest brother, JOE (Alty Georges Nunes) who died of a ruptured aneurysm on February 7, 2011.

This collective is well known and much involved in the cultural life of Kingston. It weekly organizes events during which young and old artists can exchange and share reggae music.

The music produced by the members of the "Jah Ova Evil" collective has contributed to the birth of the "Reggae Revival" trend and the merging with Jazz, Soul, Hip-hop and electronic music.

It is this collective that gave birth to the rising stars of reggae such as : J.O.E aka Jah Ova Evil (Alty George Nunes), Chronixx (Jamar Mc Naughton) and Hempress Sativa (Kerida Johnson).

This album is produced by Batelier Records, a young reggae music label based in Slovakia and managed by passionate people who decided to work with "Jah Ova Evil" collective because of their common values: "We believe in the potential of these artists who work together in order to influence our world!", "Our main effort is to support artists and producers who are struggling to bring those vibes to the people" said Renaud Devaliere, Founder of Batelier Records.

The "Jah Ova Evil : Forever Judah" album is dedicated to the unique artist affectionately known as Lil Joe, "Alty George Nunes 3rd" who past away in 2011 and who inspired all the artists of the compilation. The first track is an exclusive track sung by J.O.E and written by his brother Selah (Jahnoi Nunes).

The album is composed of 14 tracks and 7 artists, starting with:
LIl JOE aka J.O.E
Alty George Nunes III (14 July 1986 - 7 February 2011), better known by his stage name J.O.E (an acronym for Jah Ova Evil), and previously as Lil Joe, was a Jamaican reggae singer. Known for his 'conscious' lyrics, Nunes was a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. He was a member of the group Jah Children in the 1990s, who toured Europe before splitting up. He placed third in the JCDC's Festival Song Contest in 2005 with "Don't Leave". He was originally known as 'Lil Joe', and worked with producers such as Gussie Clarke, with whom he recorded one of his best known songs, "Not Good at All". He adopted the name 'J.O.E.' after suffering a ruptured cerebral aneurysm in November 2009 which saw him hospitalised for three weeks. He died on February 7, 2011 at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Mona of a second ruptured cerebral aneurysm, aged 24. His debut album, Man From Judah, was completed after his death, with contributions from T.O.K., Konshens, Krayzie Bone, and Ky-Mani Marley, and released in July 2012.
Followed by J.O.E's twin brothers:
THE GIDEON
Aijah Nunes (11 September 1982), known by his stage name "The Gideon", was born in Port Antonio along with his identical twin brother Jahnoi Nunes ('Selah'). The sons of a dancer, choreographer and cultural icon named Patricia Ricketts ('Patsy') were part of the "Jah children" band in the 1990s until the tour ended in 1993. Individuals of the group went different ways, most of them venturing into different careers except three, Aijah, Jahnoi and Alty Nunes 3rd (Lil Joe) who chose to pursue their musical career. In 1995 the brothers formed a singing group called "Encore" which were successful on the local live performance scene. In 1998, Aijah and his brothers united with various friends and family members decided to form "Judgement Squad". This was a shift from the kind of music they were known for. Aijah however developed a talent for constructing highly intricated lyrics at this time : "The Gideon" emerged with a unique style and sound.
SELAH
Jahnoi Nunes (11 September 1982), known by his stage name "Selah", was born in Port Antonio in Jamaica. He is the third born son to Alty George NUNES II and Miss Patricia Judith Maryla Ricketts ("Patsy"), a renowned dancer, choreographer and cultural icon.
It was Patsy along with renowned percussionists, Karl 'Simba' Messado, who groomed Selah and his brothers Jahnoi Nunes ('The Gideon') and Alty George Nunes III ('J.O.E') at a tender age as cultural musical performers known then as « Jah Children ». Selah's drive towards music composition and production was fueled by his love for music and the fact that talented artists always could find him and his family at his place in Vineyardtown avenue.
And several artists of the "Jah Ova Evil" collective:
HEMPRESS SATIVA
Kerida Johnson known as Hempress Sativa was born to Rastafarian parents Doris-Ray Johnson and legendary Jamaican Selector/Musician Albert 'Ilawi Malawi' Johnson of the Jah Love Sound System. It was her exposure to music at home that sharpened her skills and has manifested today in her expressive writing. Dubbed "Hempress Sativa: Your Highness", she intended to premier her album to be titled "UnconqueRebel Lioness" which was slated for the first quarter of 2014. With the success of her single and video for "Ooh La La- The Weed Thing" she is in high gears. Hempress Sativa is an extraordinary young talent, propelling Jamaican music into the future while strongly remaining rooted in a traditional foundation that makes her music timeless.
NICOLE MILLER
Nicole Miller was born on February 23, 1982, at the Princess Margaret Hospital and raised in Sunning Hill, St. Thomas, by her mother, Veronica Smith and Donovan Miller. Nicole has been exercising her uncanny vocal skills from the tender age of four at the church of the Seventh Day Adventist with accreditation for her musical initiation due to her grandmother, Alice Thomas. This was further strengthened by her father, who himself is a gifted singer and her mother's eclectic music collection that resonated throughout her household. Nicole has toured the world extensively as a background vocalist with chart topping Reggae artist, Richie Spice, a dancehall icon, Mr. Vegas and Julian Marley, son of the legendary Robert Nesta Marley. Nicole Miller is a soulful spirited singer with strong gripping lyrics and vocals that can only be described as golden.
D'EXCELL
At the age of 18 Francini Olando Doylet decided to pursue a career in the music industry, he then started his first recordings with a community based record label named "Camaflage Records". Shortly after he formed another music label named "Pressure Dem Records" and started to compose beats and started recording other artists. During the course of all these ventures he was tutored by Jahnoi Nunes (Selah with Jah Ova Evil records). He released his debut EP in July 2013 on the Jah Ova Evil records label and emerged as a fresh new talent straight out of Dunkirk in East Kingston, Jamaica. D'EXCELL is sure to be one of the most infectious and effective artists to hit the scene.
JAHWAWAH
Julius Griffiths aka 'Jahwawah' was born in Kingston, Jamaica in November 1972. He grew up in a musical environment with his mother being a Promotion Manager for Tuff Gong, playing and listening to Bob Marley and other famous musicians. Jahwawah's musical career started with his high school band, 'Kollege Krew', his first European band, 'Urban Funk Collective.' The release of the Chillout compilation in Europe of which Jahwawah was featured went gold in a couple of weeks. And it was Jahwawah's track that generated a lot of interest as Rockers HiFi who asked to remix it, resulting in going gold in London. Jahwawah formed a lyrical souls band and Reggae Vibes Sound system. He toured from Jamaica to Germany, Seychelles, Africa and France, with Beenie Man, Ghetto Youths Crew and Kool Savas to name a few.
